    Gujarat, India's westernmost state, has varied terrain and numerous sacred sites. In its urban center of Ahmedabad is the Calico Museum of Textiles, displaying antique and modern Indian fabrics. Spiritual leader Mahatma Gandhi's base from 1917-1930 was Sabarmati Ashram, where his living quarters remain on view. Gujarati, Hindi and Marathi are the commonly spoken languages. Apart from Ahmadabad the other important states are Baroda, Surat, Jamnagar, Bhuj, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Valsad, Anand, and Bharuch.

Father of India Mahatma Gandhi, the Iron Man of India Sardar Patel, contribution to the Indian economy consistently, forward thinking and dynamic people, blessed with abundant natural resources all signify the vibrancy of this state. Nature has always blessed Gujarat with water resources. Gujarat is fondly called the Land of the Legends for the sheer number of people who have risen from nowhere to international repute.
